Watching Comedy Network Roast of David Hasselhoff.
Last PED day before the kids start back on Monday - I hope I get my class lists today!
I haven’t seen this much rain come down in a very long time! All the rain we didn’t get over the summer is coming down in a 12 hour period.
Brownies in the oven. Now I lick the batter bowl! Yum!
In the backyard watching for sunspots, drinking a beer and watching people get foiled by a closed gate.
Damn it - I broke another glass. No other damage though and cleaned up before the cats could inspect it.
Watching Penn & Teller Bullshit on vaccinations.
Just made an order with Subterranean Press: The Lifecycle of Software Objects by Ted Chaing, Clementine by Cherie Priest and a Pat Rothfuss.
Just changed the flapper in the toilet tank. Hopefully this will stop the (almost) constant running it’s been doing lately.
Nothing like worm-slime dipped crickets to tempt the most finicky of turtle appetites. Let the nomming begin!
Current reading: The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean. Lots of periodic table love here - a fun read so far.

Was supposed to go zip-lining yesterday but a lightning bolt *to* the office at the site put a quick end to that idea. Still drying out.
Been doing a lot of reading recently and have not been tweeting them. Currently I’m reading Joe Hill’s Heart Shaped Box.

Homeopathy comic strip →
This is the first part of a two part comic strip highlighting the dangers of homeopathy. The creator, Darryl Cunningham, also did a strip a while back on the dangers that antivaxxers pose. As a high school science teacher, I get questions about alternative medicines and the use of vaccines from several students; I may point them to these pages in the future.
First nabbed from Bad Astronomy.

Gone to the birds
This spring and summer have seen a lot of birds at the feeders (mixed seed, Niger seed and a hummingbird feeder). These are the species that have visited us so far this season:

American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis)
Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula)
American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos)
Chipping Sparrow (Spizella passerina)
Black-capped Chickadee...

My cubicle at school has never looked so clean - it must be the start of summer vacation! :)
Just upgraded the iPod Touch to iOS4. So far it seems to work quite well.
I love getting Goober high on catnip. He turns into such an agressive bastard!
Labyrinth2 is highly addictive and that’s all I’m going to say about that.
Spent about 2 hours breaking down boxes in the basement. The rest of the night will be spent reading and maybe movie watching.
